The Role
The Head of Projects role is a critical position that cuts across the entire organization and engages cross-functionally. Today we have a lead project manager who is responsible for managing projects across our live portfolio, product launches, and business development. The variety of projects and workstreams requires a more experienced individual who can navigate the various projects and relationships necessary to successfully launch and improve products.
Our 2025 roadmap and OKRs are ambitious and focused around tripling our live portfolio, while also diversifying our products in terms of markets, partners, and outcomes. This position requires a highly organized and driven individual that can support the organization in achieving these lofty goals for 2025, while also shaping the future of digital banking in the space at large.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement project management methodologies, standards, and tools to ensure consistency, scalability, and repeatability across projects.
- Lead project planning and collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with business goals and establishing effective communication frameworks.
- Drive project execution by establishing monitoring mechanisms to track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to plans. Facilitate regular reviews to maintain alignment and progress.
- Define and implement quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet established standards. Conduct periodic audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and deliver project status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for senior leadership, highlighting key achievements, risks, and issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance project management practices and implement initiatives to drive efficiency and innovation. Stay informed on industry best practices and trends.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing project management team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment, buy-in, and seamless project execution.
- Anticipate and manage potential risks by creating contingency plans and ensuring proactive communication and resolution.
- Ensure all project activities are aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities, OKRs, and roadmap to achieve long-term business outcomes.
Person Specification
Required
- Proven Project Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years leading and delivering complex projects, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and frameworks, with demonstrated success in managing risks, dependencies, and issues.
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Effective Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all levels.
- High attention to detail with expertise in managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities effectively.
Preferred
- Possession of a recognized project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) and familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools.
- Experience in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments or industries involving ambiguity and rapid change.
- Strong ability to mentor teams, foster collaboration across cross-functional teams, and enforce adherence to processes and timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or advanced certifications in project management is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments with changing priorities.
